When you consider the environment – and what products to purchase that do their part to help preserve it, we believe you need to look at more than just the end result. You need to look at the starting point. Ask yourself this: where does the product come from? How did it get from there to here? How was it cared for along the way? And what are the conditions it’s manufactured in? The answers may surprise you.

That’s why, over 5 years ago, we dedicated ourselves to creating textile technologies that offered the marketplace better, safer, cleaner, and greener fabric solutions. After much research, formulation and testing, we are using the most environmentally intelligent processes for high-performance textiles that current technology and chemistry have to offer, and as such, have become an industry leader in this effort – a title we intend on keeping.

It is this dedication toward excellence that is the driving force behind our latest innovation – Crypton Green. The first and only optimized high-performance textile system, Crypton Green is invented and produced in the USA, and is the only performance fabric that can claim certifications from Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), MBDC, and Environmental Choice Australia (ECA.) Crypton Green is also the only one that offers a truly responsible solution that exceeds industry standards for indoor air quality and optimized materials.

So, just what does all of that mean? Here are the facts:

Innovation
Crypton Green is the first high-performance fabric system to receive a MBDC Cradle-to-Cradle and SCS Indoor Advantageä Gold certifications.

Sustainability and High Performance
Crypton Super Fabrics offer superior durability, cleanability, odor resistance, and liquid impermeability. Crypton is the only system that provides complete protection by resisting both microbial and fungal growth. By extending the useful life of furniture, Crypton Green products contribute to the effective use of resources.

Safety of Materials
Crypton Green is the product of rigorous scientific research and development. We have optimized performance and safety for human and environmental health. Chemical and raw material improvements have reduced and/or eliminated the presence of formaldehyde, PFOAs and PBDEs.

Crypton products have been assessed and certified by third parties, including McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC), Oeko-Tex, and Scientific Certification Systems.

Crypton Green was the first high-performance fabric construction to be awarded the Cradle-to-Cradleä Silver certification. MBDC’s benchmarking process involves the (re)design of products and the selection of materials for healthy, cradle-to-cradle lifecycles. The same technologies used for Crypton Green are incorporated in Oeko-Tex certified Crypton Mattress Fabric.

Indoor Air Quality
Crypton Green is a low-emitting product. Chemical formulations have been optimized and the product has been thoroughly tested for emissions of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), including formaldehyde and aldehydes.

In extensive testing with SCS, Crypton Green complies with the “Collaborative for High Performance Schools,” Section 1350, a standard that specifies maximum thresholds for 80 organic compounds with possible indoor sources. Our product received a SCS Indoor Advantageä Gold certification.

Exceeds Industry Standards
Crypton Green can contribute to points for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and the Green Guide for Health Care. Areas of contribution to LEED-CI (Commercial Interiors) points include Resource Reuse, Recycled Content or Rapidly Renewable Materials, and Low-Emitting Materials.

EPA Registration
Crypton Care’s Disinfectant and Deodorizer, a proprietary cleaning formula, has recently been awarded an EPA certification. When Crypton Care’s Disinfectant and Deodorizer is used directly on Crypton Super Fabrics, it provides a method to disinfect fabric. Crypton Care’s Disinfectant and Deodorizer offers non-leeching microbial protection, and prevents the growth of over 48 bacteria and viruses – including HIV, the Avian Flu virus, mold, and mildew.

Manufactured With Care
Crypton processes consume less water and gas than conventional operations. In fact, Crypton, Inc. has reduced its consumption of water (gallons per yd) by 40% over the past 5 years by utilizing an advanced raw material recovery system. Utilizing thermally efficient contact heaters wherever possible reduces our gas consumption. And our packaging material has been reduced by 10% (as compared to pre-sized bags) by purchasing a roll bagging machine that tailors the amount of plastic to each roll’s diameter.

Sterling Planet
Crypton Green and InCase Fabric Protection are Carbon Neutral. We were presented with the Sterling Planet Certificate of Environmental Stewardship for helping to reduce the amount of Greenhouse Gas Emissions. Each yard of Crypton Green and InCase Fabric Protection are powered by renewable energy via Renewable Energy Credits. By buying Crypton products, you are supporting the growth of Renewable Energy.

End of (First) Life
Since 2003, we have been recycling all Crypton Super Fabric scraps at a facility less than 100 miles from our plant. All of our cardboard tubes and packaging are also recycled.
