Crypton Green

Innovation and leadership are part of our DNA. Since introducing Crypton in 1994, we have dedicated ourselves to creating textile technologies that offer the marketplace better, cleaner, and safer fabric solutions. What began as a need to create a fabric that makes life easier, or as we say "mess-free, stress-free," has evolved into a desire to make Crypton the most environmentally intelligent process for high-performance textiles that current technology and chemistry allow. We intend to lead the industry in this effort.

It is this dedication toward excellence that is the driving force behind our latest innovation - Crypton Green. The first and only optimized high-performance textile system, Crypton Green offers a truly responsible solution that exceeds industry standards for indoor air quality and optimized materials. Crypton Green is the only performance fabric that can claim certifications from both Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) and MBDC.

Our journey toward environmental excellence has just begun. Early on we realized there were no "green" standards for a high-performance fabric. Undaunted, we challenged our lab to find the best and safest materials and technologies currently available. After years of research, reformulation, and testing, we are setting the standard and offering the marketplace the first responsible high-performance solution for environmentally minded consumers.

Our Commitment
We are committed to constant improvement. We will continue to strive to make a better, more effective and responsible greener product. We will pursue every means possible to ensure Crypton products and manufacturing processes are sustainable and have a minimal impact on human and ecological health.

The first Crypton Green collection will be available through Momentum.
Momentum's collection, made from 100% recycled polyester, will be the first to market that utilizes Crypton's optimized formulation. The Momentum Crypton line is comprised of 4 essential textiles: structural solid, textural boucle', playful geometric and stylized leaf. This eclectic mix of patterns from solids and earthy organics to understated textures and attention-grabbing geometrics, coupled with the color palette which ranges from zesty brights for hospitality to serene hues for healthcare and neutrals for corporate settings, reflects Momentum's commitment to design that reaches across multiple markets. "We continue to seek opportunities to create viable products for the marketplace that aid in our journey toward sustainability. This led to the development of 100% recycled polyester products able to be certified for the Crypton Green technology. Our debut Crypton Green collection meets the objective of a sustainable textile that exceeds high-performance standards," says Momentum Group President Roger Arciniega.

The Harvest Collection: Crypton Green Styles by Designtex.
This collection features five styles, each named after a sustainable crop:

Rice This is a beautiful style that incorporates a boucle’ yarn for an interesting, tonal texture.

Seed: is a multi-colored, small-scale pattern with the appearance of stitching or neatly arranged rows of seed.

Kenaf: is named after the sustainable Kenaf crop whose fiber is used in the manufacture of rope, twine, cloth and paper. A multi-colored, small-scaled geometric, Kenaf is comprised of juxtaposed circles intersected with undulating waves.

Amaranth: Named after a plant with drooping flowers grown for ornament, as a grain crop or leafy vegetable, Amaranth is a multi-colored, medium-scale pattern comprised of half moons.

Cassava: Its namesake is the edible root of a plant, similar to a gourd, grown as a source of nutrients in many tropical countries. Cassava is a bold, large-scale, stylized floral woven jacquard.

Innovation
Crypton Green is the first high-performance fabric system to receive a Cradle-to-Cradle & trade; certification as well as the SCS Gold Indoor Advantage™ certification.

Sustainability and High Performance
Crypton Super Fabrics offer superior durability, cleanability, odor resistance, and liquid impermeability. By extending the useful life of furniture, Crypton Green products contribute to the effective use of resources.

Material and Formula Optimization
Crypton Green is the product of rigorous scientific research and development. Chemical and raw material improvements have reduced and/or eliminated the presence of formaldehyde, PFOAs, and PBDEs.

Indoor Air Quality — Low-Emitting Product
Chemical formulations have been optimized and the product has been thoroughly tested for emissions of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), including formaldehyde and aldehydes.

In extensive testing with SCS, Crypton Green complies to the "Collaborative for High Performance Schools," Section 1350, a standard that specifies maximum thresholds for 80 organic compounds with possible indoor sources. Our product received a SCS Gold Indoor Advantage™ certification.

Material Health and Safety
Crypton Green was assessed by MBDC for human and environmental health. The product was the first high-performance fabric construction to be awarded a Cradle-to-Cradle & trade; certification. MBDC's benchmarking process involves the (re)design of products and the selection of materials for healthy, cradle-to-cradle lifecycles.

Exceeds Industry Standards
Crypton Green can contribute to points for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and the Green Guide for Health Care. Areas of contribution to LEED-CI (Commercial Interiors) points include Resource Reuse, Recycled Content or Rapidly Renewable Materials, and Low-Emitting Materials.

EPA Registration
Crypton Care's Disinfectant and Deodorizer, a proprietary cleaning formula, has recently been awarded an EPA certification. When Crypton Care's Disinfectant and Deodorizer is used directly on Crypton Super Fabrics it provides a method to disinfect fabric. Crypton Care's Disinfectant and Deodorizer prevents the growth of over 48 bacteria and viruses — including HIV, the Avian Flu virus, mold, and mildew.
